When looking to sell your home, it can only take a handful of improvement projects to dramatically affect your homes resale value. The most important thing to remember when completing home renovation upgrades for resale is to ensure you get the best value for your dollar. Ultimately, the goal is to improve your home and then when it comes time to sell, you can command at a higher price point. Here are some of the remodel ideas that may help you add some value to your home.
1. Curb Appeal
Ask any of our agents, curb appeal makes a huge difference when it comes to selling your home. Curb appeal really acts as a first impression and it is important to make a lasting one for a potential buyer. A few ways to increase this value would be updating exterior paint, maintaining a properly paved driveway, and considering adding drought friendly plants, especially for Central Valley homes. A bonus if your home has a porch is to add some outdoor furniture.
2. Lighting
When it comes to showing your home, no one wants to enter a dimly lit room. Bringing in updated lights can make all the difference. Lighting can make a space appear larger and more open. We recommend allowing space for more natural light, whether it's new windows or skylights. Lighting can bring a whole new flow to the space.
3. Kitchen
Kitchens serve as a heart of a home and kitchen remodels add MAJOR value to a home. Even things like things such as updated appliances or a window over the sink can add a lot of appeal. If you're looking into a bigger demo, changing countertops or cabinets can be a well worthy upgrade.
4. Bathrooms
Bathrooms can often be a make or break for potential buyers. If there are super outdated bathrooms or not enough bathrooms in a home, adding a few touches can make a big difference. New appliances or sink features can be a simple way to spruce up the space. By simply changing out one or two of the most outdated items, you can make your bathroom look modern and new.
5. Storage
Extra storage is always a winning selling point. Adding built-in shelves would be a great way to add some extra storage, there is also something satisfying about a space with lots of built-in nooks.
